Now accepting entries for the 2017 Irish Whiskey Awards
Entries are now being accepted for this year’s Irish Whiskey Awards. Which will be held at the Bow St Jameson Distillery on October 19th.
The awards, which are now in their fifth year, span a total of 20 categories.
The closing date for all entries is Tuesday 1st August and details on how to enter are on the attached entry form.
Judging of the Awards will take place over several sessions. Like other years, members of the Celtic Whiskey Club & Irish Whiskey Society will judge all whiskeys.
We are also very excited to announce the involvement of the Cork Whiskey Society this year, who will also be judging all whiskeys.
Lillie's Bordello, Dublin and Coughlans, Cork have very kindly given us the venues for the blind tastings and judges will be attending the sessions on the following dates:
Dublin: Lillie's Bordello Cork: Coughlans
Sat August 26th Sat 2nd September
Sat 2nd September Sat 9th September
Sat 9th September
This will be the first year where we have organised tastings in both Dublin and Cork, with the hope of increasing involvement and making it easier for all members of these societies to have the opportunity to judge. Overseas members of the Celtic Whiskey Club will also have the chance to purchase sample packs and vote without having to travel to Ireland.
Members of the trade will be responsible for judging white spirit categories (Gin, Vodka & Poitin), which will take place in a separate tasting session.
Last year’s awards saw Knappogue Castle 14 Year-Old win the coveted award for Irish Whiskey of the Year, while Dick Mack’s in Dingle won the gong for Irish Whiskey Bar of the Year.
